AI makes it easier for attacks, but also for defenders - we'll see how a modern Ethereum Wallet stack featuring clear signing and support of privacy protocols running on custom open hardware was built with minimum coding, offer strong security guarantees and can be adapted to multiple devices
This presentation will start with a quick description of the problem : what is missing from hardware wallets today regarding protocol support and user interface, and what has been built so far (ERC-7730 - https://clearsigning.org/).
It'll then dig into the modifications done to a open microkernel, Xous (https://github.com/betrusted-io/xous-core), running on the open RISCV Daric chip (https://github.com/crossbar-inc/daric-hardware) from a security and user experience point of view (from adding a new service to handle BIP 39 seeds safely for multiple applications to choosing the best User Interface layer)
We'll continue with the implementation of the Universal Signer application itself and the architecture chosen to be compatible with devices having quite different performance targets.
Finally we'll do a quick demo.
Attendees will get a clear view of modern challenges faced by wallets today, and how automatic programming helps building secure hardware.
