A walkthrough FOCIL(EIP-7805) implementation in Lighthouse, done as part of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship. A dive into how inclusion lists are produced, gossiped, stored, and enforced in Lighthouse, and what we learned from taking this initiative from a moving spec to a working implementation.
FOCIL puts censorship resistance directly into consensus: each slot, a 16-validator committee broadcasts inclusion lists, and fork choice refuses to extend payloads that ignore them. We've been working on implementing EIP-7805 in Lighthouse (as EPF fellows), and this talk will detail how we've done it and what we learned throughout the process.
Senior software engineer with 6 years in web3 and Ethereum Protocol Fellow (cohort 7), contributing to Ethereum consensus clients and working toward censorship resistance by implementing FOCIL in Lighthouse
I’m an Ethereum Protocol Fellow (EPF Cohort 7) and blockchain engineer focused on Ethereum protocol development, MEV resistance, and decentralized infrastructure. I’m currently implementing FOCIL in Lighthouse, contributing to Ethereum’s censorship-resistance roadmap. I’ve also built systems across Uniswap, Arweave, and other privacy-preserving Web3 infrastructure.
