Why is Wikipedia (still) relevant in the age of AI?
, Community Led Stage

AI chatbots answer questions instantly, but they depend heavily on Wikipedia for grounded, up-to-date knowledge. As people turn to AI instead of visiting, editing, and supporting Wikipedia, the source that these systems rely on is quietly at risk. This talk explores what Wikipedia offers that generated answers cannot: transparent citations, a public edit history, community governance, and open licensing. It also looks at the threats Wikipedia faces from declining traffic and AI-generated content. Finally, it argues that human-curated open knowledge is not outdated but essential infrastructure for trustworthy AI, and shows how developers and communities can help sustain it.
