Building the ePBS Builder in Lodestar
2026-11-04 –, Workshop 2

Over the EPF cohort, we built an EIP-7732 builder for Lodestar, from an empty package to producing blocks on Sepolia. We'll walk through how the design came together, what got in the way, where it stands now and what's next. No intro to ePBS, just the work done during the cohort.

Our EPF project centered on the EIP-7732 ePBS builder for Lodestar, part of preparing the client for the upcoming Gloas fork. We'll cover what we set out to build, how the design evolved, and the challenges along the way, including a spec that was still moving while we implemented against it. That led to contributions to beacon-APIs alongside the client work itself. Our work also went beyond the builder, helping Lodestar prepare for the fork more broadly. We'll close with where the builder stands today, producing blocks on Sepolia, what's merged and what is yet to be, and what comes next.
