EEZ (Ethereum Economic Zone) enables synchronous inter-rollup calls while preserving Ethereum's trust model. This talk explains the EEZ protocol, how rollups exchange synchronous call information through Ethereum blobs, and the smart contracts that coordinate execution. We'll discuss the proving assumptions behind the protocol, compare different proving technologies (ZK, TEEs, multisigs), present our ZisK-based implementation, and share performance benchmarks.
Ethereum's rollup ecosystem has achieved massive scalability, but composability remains fragmented. EEZ (Ethereum Economic Zone) enables synchronous inter-rollup calls while preserving Ethereum's trust model.
This talk presents the technical design of EEZ. We'll explain how rollups exchange synchronous call requests and responses through Ethereum blobs, the smart contracts that coordinate execution, and the protocol's security model.
We'll then discuss the proving layer. EEZ supports multiple proving technologies—including zero-knowledge proofs, Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), multisignature committees, and future approaches—offering different trust, security, and latency trade-offs.
Finally, we'll present our implementation using ZisK, an open-source zkVM. We'll cover the proving pipeline, key engineering decisions, and benchmark results showing that low-latency proving makes synchronous composability practical on Ethereum.
