2026-11-03 –, Workshop 1
AI can explain almost anything and produce answers in seconds. How does that change the way we learn? This talk explores what AI means for education, from personal support to the risk of completing tasks without understanding them. It connects these questions to changes in SpeedRun Ethereum and the creation of Learning Lab, where an AI agent uses questions and hints to help people learn Ethereum and build their first smart contract.
AI is changing how we study, teach, and check what someone has learned. It offers new ways to ask questions, get feedback, and explore unfamiliar subjects. It also makes it easy to finish an assignment without understanding the ideas behind it.
Drawing on perspectives from MIT, PISA, and learning science, this talk looks at the opportunities and challenges for education. What knowledge do we still need? When does AI help us learn, and when does it do too much for us?
We will connect this wider picture to the changes we are making in SpeedRun Ethereum and the creation of Learning Lab. In Learning Lab, people explore Ethereum concepts and build their first smart contract with an AI agent using the Socratic method: questions, hints, and prompts to explain their choices. The goal is to help learners build understanding and the confidence to think for themselves.
I got into crypto and the Ethereum ecosystem in 2017, mostly investing in ICOs that went nowhere and then trading NFTs in 2020/21. Before crypto I spent 10 years at a tech startup as Project Manager and a few more freelancing.
Since 2023 I've been at BuidlGuidl working on Product, building tools and education for Ethereum devs: Scaffold-ETH 2, SpeedRunEthereum and much more.
