DESCRIPTION:AI chatbots answer questions instantly\, but they depend heavil
y on Wikipedia for grounded\, up-to-date knowledge. As people turn to AI i
nstead of visiting\, editing\, and supporting Wikipedia\, the source that
these systems rely on is quietly at risk. This talk explores what Wikipedi
a offers that generated answers cannot: transparent citations\, a public e
dit history\, community governance\, and open licensing. It also looks at
the threats Wikipedia faces from declining traffic and AI-generated conten
 t. Finally\, it argues that human-curated open knowledge is not outdated b
ut essential infrastructure for trustworthy AI\, and shows how developers
and communities can help sustain it.
